The Nintendo Switch gets carried everywhere: car rides, barracks rooms, sleepovers and long waits at appointments. That much travel means drops, cracked screens, worn charging ports and controllers that start drifting. At 254 Repair we fix Nintendo Switch consoles and Joy-Con controllers at our shop at 3921 East Stan Schlueter Loop, Ste 103 in Killeen, so you do not have to mail the console away and wait.
Switch problems we fix
- Joy-Con drift. Your character walks on its own or the camera slowly spins. Drift is one of the most common Switch complaints, and the analog stick can usually be replaced.
- Cracked screen or digitizer. Whether the glass is cracked or the touch stopped working, we replace screens with high quality parts.
- Will not charge or will not dock. The USB-C port on the bottom of the Switch takes a lot of wear, and a damaged port can stop charging or stop the console from showing on the TV. We check the charger, the dock and the port before recommending a repair.
- Battery drains fast. If a full charge does not last like it used to, or the console only works while plugged in, a battery replacement may help.
- Game card reader problems. If the Switch keeps saying it cannot read the game card, the reader may be dirty or damaged.
- Overheating and fan noise. A loud fan or a console that shuts off while playing may need cleaning or fan service.
- Joy-Con rail and button issues. Controllers that do not click in or buttons that stick.
We work on the original Switch, the Switch OLED and the Switch Lite. Because the Lite has built-in controls, stick drift on a Lite means opening the console itself, which is a job for the bench rather than a quick swap.
Before you bring it in
Try the simple things first: fully restart the console by holding the power button and choosing restart, update the system software, and for drift, try the stick calibration in System Settings. If none of that helps, bring it in. Take any game card out and bring the charger and dock if the problem is charging or TV output, so we can test the whole setup. Your save data stays with the console and your Nintendo account, but if you have Nintendo Switch Online, cloud saves are a good backup.
How the repair works
We look at the Switch with you at the counter, confirm the problem and quote the repair before starting. Many Joy-Con and port repairs are quick; screen and board work may take longer. You can follow along on our repair status page. If you also have a PlayStation or Xbox acting up, see our game console repair and console repair pages, or read about HDMI port problems.
Military families welcome
254 Repair is veteran-owned, and a lot of our Switch repairs come from Fort Hood families. Active duty, veterans and military families can ask for our military discount. We speak Spanish as well.
Check our price list for current pricing, and if we got your Switch back in the game, please leave us a review.
Frequently asked questions
Can you fix Joy-Con drift?
Usually, yes. Joy-Con drift is often caused by a worn analog stick, which we can replace. Try the stick calibration in System Settings first.
Do you repair the Switch Lite and Switch OLED?
Yes. We work on the original Switch, the Switch OLED and the Switch Lite.
My Switch won't show on the TV. Is it the dock or the console?
It can be either. Bring the console, the dock and the cables so we can test the whole setup and find the real cause.
Will I lose my game saves?
Saves are stored on the console and tied to your Nintendo account, and repairs like sticks and screens do not erase them. If you have Nintendo Switch Online, cloud saves are a good backup.
